February 16, 2023 Concert with Gulzoda & Ensemble in the Brucknerhaus

Shashmaqom from Uzbekistan as part of the program Musik der Völker at the Brucknerhaus in Linz.

Born in Bukhara, the Uzbek singer Gulzoda is known for her nuanced voice and her extraordinary stage presence. The city of Bukhara has always been a melting pot of cultures. The various ethnic groups that lived in the oasis have shaped their music, the highlight of which is the Shashmaqam. In 2003 it was included in the UNESCO Intangible World Heritage List. Gulzoda is one of the leading interpreters of this genre. She is accompanied by the virtuoso dutar player Bekzod Safarov and Farruh Vohidov on the ghichak.
